Team Root and CDEC complete the playoffs

With over 10 hours of Dota being played on the second day of the Dota2 Winter Cup we had the decider match from both groups as well as the start of the playoffs.

Group A's decider match had Newbee fall short against a much stronger CDEC that had their Io and Gyro combo banned on both games of the series. These results further extend the bad phase that Newbee has been in for the past months while struggling to find their footing on the patch and a solid roster. Their last chance of redemption in 2018

Team Root and Keen Gaming faced each other for the last spot at the playoffs. With a strong laning phase, KG was able to control the game tempo and Team Root's Terrorblade was not enough against the 3 overfarmed cores from the Radiant side. However, with the help of a few misplays coming from KG, Team Root managed to secure the win of the second map while betting on the Terrrorblade once again. For the decider match, Team Root pulled out the core Sven that had not been seen in a long time in the competitive scene, paired with Pugna, they performed an almost flawless 5-man deathball strategy that secured their spot at the playoffs.

This marks the end of the journey for Keen Gaming that showed a lot of potential with their recent successful qualifier run for the Bucharest Minor and a lot of experienced players such as Wang "old chicken" Zhiyong and Ren "eLeVeN" Yangwei.
