The first playoff game had the experienced Team Root led by DDC facing the tournament underdogs iG.Vitality. Even with a decent performance and some upsets during the group stage, iG.Vitality was not able to deal with the tournaments favorite and lost the first map against an unorthodox Sniper mid pick that completely outlaned the enemy Medusa and a failed agressive offlane combo of Brewmaster and Sand King that had a total of 9 deaths between the two on the first 10 minutes of the game. In the second game of the series, iG.Vitality had a similar draft that they employed against CDEC in the group stages with a 5-man deathball with Tidehunter and Leshrac, however, it was also quickly shut down by Team Root that closed the second map of the series in 27 minutes to secure their spot on the grand finals.
Without losing a game in the group stages and coming with momemtum from their recent performance in Melbourne, MGB made quick work of CDEC on the first map of the series in just over 22 minutes against a very greedy CDEC draft. However, CDEC was able to pick up their Io and Gyrocopter duo in game two, and similarly to the group stages where they had the heroes, they were able to clear the game with sucessful fights at key timings for the duo. The last match of the series was a nail bitter from beginning to end, with both teams winning big team fights and pushing towards objectives, two lanes of barracks were taken out on each side before a decisive Roshan fight went to CDEC's favour and allowed them to close the longest game of the tournament so far, just shy of 50 minutes.
